My Favorite Things: July

It’s (passed) that time of the month again where I reveal my favorites things, so lets cut the fluff and just get down to business.

1- Skorts.  One of my favorite clothing items from childhood is back with a vengeance.  As a kid I loved that I could play on the swings and slide down the slide looking stylish but not have to worry about the world seeing my Little Mermaid underwear.  Flash forward twenty years later and not much has changed.  Skorts are great because they can be flirty and cute but also practical.  It’s a great way to show some leg without showing anything more.  They are pretty versatile, as well.  You can dress them up with a great blouse and heels or booties, or they can be dressed down with a t-shirt and sneakers as I’ve done here.  Mine was from Club Monaco but here are a few of my other top picks:  I LOVE this print  from Dolce & Gabbana, its so fun and flirty.  This white denim item from James is great for a weekend brunch or hanging around town.  This one from BLAQUE is a great one to dress up for an evening event, and a longer one like this Acne number is great for work.

2- Metallics.  Summer Metallics are pretty much the bees knees.  They had a big showing for the Spring runways and I love seeing them IRL on the streets of New York.  My preferred way of doing metallics is through accessories.  I love my rose gold KSwiss kicks (similar here) as well as my favorite silhouette; the mule here from Gucci.  Bags are also an easy choice to make metallic.  I love this shoulder bag from Gucci for day, and this small envelope bag for evening.  If you really want to kick up your metal game, you can give the tin man a run for his money in a skirt like this, or a killer jacket like this one.  If that’s not for you, a metallic nail polish is a great way to let your sparkle shine through in a small and subtle way.

3- Racer front tops and dresses.  I love this silhouette.  It shows off your shoulders in a super sexy way thats understated and chic.  I adore this casual tank with jeans, or shorts.  You could even tuck it into a high waisted skirt for a more elevated look.  This more sophisticated top is great with a pencil girl for evening or cropped pants or slacks for work.

I also really love this shape translated into a dress.  I love this dressy option with dual patterns, I love the fun print at the bottom which makes it equally translatable for day and for night.  This next one is great for an evening event or a wedding.  Its super slick and chic and can be dressed up with great accessories to give your look give that real “wow” factor.  Finally, this casual dress is the ideal daytime choice.  I love the ease of the fabric.  This dress would look amazing with a gladiator sandal or a crisp white sneaker.
