These Mules Are Made for Walkin’

SJP-Cover-627

Shoes are my favorite thing.  I have more shoes than I know people.  I have more shoes than I have places to wear them, more shoes than places to put them.  But those obstacles don’t stop me from worshiping at the altar of footwear.  In my dreams I have that shoe closet like Carrie in the Sex and the City movie.  But in reality, I have a tiny New York City apartment so I have to chose my new shoe acquisitions carefully.

Aside from the lace up that I mentioned a few weeks ago, there is another shoe trend that has stolen my heart this season, and that’s the mule.  A mule is essentially a backless shoe of any height, typically its closed-toed but it doesn’t have to be.  The mule was featured on almost every runway for Spring in a variety of heel heights ranging from flat and casual to sophisticated and sky scraping.

To help ease you through your case of the Mondays I am here to present to you my favorite silhouettes of this season’s mules in both high and low price points.  Happy shopping!

Flat:  This Jeffrey Campbell mule is a great, more price conscious version of the Gucci that has become insanely popular overnight.  So popular they even offer it in this Fur-lined version.  It comes in a variety of colors as well, but for a lower priced one I love this one.  This Jil Sander one is also super chic and simple.  I love these flat mules with a cropped jean and a peasant shirt, or even for office wear with a black culotte and a blouse.

Mid:  Moving up the heigh spectrum, there are a lot of mule options in a mid heel.  I love this casual one from BC Footwear.  I’d wear this with cropped pants or a denim skirt.  This Chloe one is a little dressier and would look amazing with a silk skirt or dress for a cocktail party or fancy brunch.  I love this Mansur Gavriel for a pop of color,  I envision it with a full spring skirt, or a pair of denim girlfriend shorts.

High:  Finally, for a higher heel option, I love these Jimmy Choo pointy toe guys.  They would look great with a pencil skirt, or a cropped skinny pant.  I also love this floral Gucci version on a wooden heel.  This would look amazing dressed down with shorts on a warm Spring day, or dressed up with culottes and a blazer for work.  I love these Kendall + Kylie pumps with a body con dress for a wedding or special event, or these CosTUME NATIONAL cuties with wide legged pants and a sleeveless top for an evening out downtown.
